Identifying Your UPVC Lock / Multi Point Door Lock
To identify your door lock, you will need to find out:
First, measure the size of the lock - the "backset" and "centres" - see below for a measuring guide.
Measuring Your UPVC Locks / Multi Point Lock
Measurements for a UPVC lock in situ should be taken from the center of the key hole.
You will need to know 2 measurements (in mm) to order your lock. These are shown in the picture to the right and indcated as:
"
B" - Backset - the measurement from the front plate of the lock to the center of the key hole.
"
C" - Centres - the distance from the centre of the key hole to the center of the handle.
IF YOU ARE UNSURE PLEASE CALL AND WE WILL BE ONLY TO HAPPY TO HELP.
Identify whether the lock has a centre latch only; centre latch and deadbolt; centre latch and hook.
Measure the width of the strip (marked 'W' in the picture to the right) and the colour.
Is the strip flat? Or does it have a U Rail?
Does the strip have a flat top to it? Or does it have a Radial end (Rounded end)
Is there a name(Makers) name stamped on it?
In the example this lock strip has MILA stamped on it.

UPVC Locks / Multi Point Locks can lock in 4 ways:
1) LEVER/LEVER - whereby you lift lever on multipoint and turn key to lock multipoint
2) NIGHTLATCH VERSION - when you close door behind you (from outside) without touching handles you are technically locked out unless you use key to withdraw latch. Note you still lift handle up and turn key to lock.
3) FAST LOCK - lift handle up and door locks automatically. You then only use your key to unlock then push handle down (GU use this style of lock)
4) KEY WIND - this multipoint locks by turning key to move locking points of multipoint (handle is used only to withdraw latch)
